Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information LookLokal collects through LookLokal (the “Platform”), why, and the choices you have. We handle personal data in line with applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. By using the Platform you agree to this policy and our Terms of Use.

1. Information we collect

Everyone who browses

An anonymous random visitor ID kept in your browser’s local storage, used only to count views and call / WhatsApp taps on seller pages without double counting. It is not linked to your identity unless you are signed in.
Basic technical data in our hosting logs (such as IP address and device type) for security and troubleshooting.

When you sign in

Your name and email address from your Google account, through Google sign-in (Firebase Authentication). We never see your Google password.
Your favourites, reviews and reports.

When you apply as a seller

Shop name, description, categories, mobile and WhatsApp numbers, area / address, and a Google Maps link. Your phone number, address, Maps link, photos, listings and (for food businesses) FSSAI number are shown publicly so customers can find and contact you. Check the Maps link before you submit: if it was filled in automatically from your detected location, replace it with your shop pin.
Your device location, read once in your browser during signup only to confirm you are inside our service area. The coordinates are not stored separately by us.
Your PAN number is checked for format and only its last 4 characters are kept. The PAN card photo is stored privately, viewed only by our admin to verify you, and deleted when your application is approved, rejected or replaced.
The time you accepted our Terms and your PAN verification consent.

2. How we use information

To run the Platform: show seller pages, search, favourites, reviews and seller dashboards.
To verify and approve sellers, and to prevent fraud, abuse and fake listings.
To show sellers how many people viewed, called or messaged them (counts only).
To respond to support requests and complaints, and to comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal data and we do not show third-party advertising.

3. Who we share it with

We use trusted service providers who process data only to provide their service to us:

Google Firebase (sign-in)
MongoDB Atlas (database)
Cloudinary (image storage and delivery)
Vercel (website hosting)

Some of these providers store data outside India. Links to WhatsApp, phone dialer and Google Maps open those services, which have their own privacy policies. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

4. How long we keep it

Seller and account details: while your account or listing is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards where needed for legal or fraud-prevention reasons.
View / call / WhatsApp counts: up to 100 days.
PAN card photo: deleted on approval, rejection or resubmission as described above.
Photos you remove from a listing are deleted from our image storage.

5. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data, withdraw consent, or delete your seller profile, reviews or account by emailing support.looklokal@gmail.com from the email address you signed in with. We will respond within a reasonable time. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide some features, such as a seller listing.

6. Security

We use access controls, private storage for identity documents, and encrypted connections. No online service is completely secure, so please keep your Google account safe.

7. Children

The Platform is not meant for sellers under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children for seller accounts.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
